Embarking on a search for a new Chief Information Officer for the first time in more than a decade, the university anticipated a significantly different technology strategy agenda. Next Generation helped the university facilitate its rethinking of IT and led the search for a new CIO. Assistance included assessing the state of the technology organization; evaluating how changes to research, teaching, and operational strategies would shift IT priorities; and devising a leadership search strategy. The COVID-19 pandemic occurred mid-way through the engagement and the consultancy shifted in substance and approach. IT leadership priorities were redefined in consultation with university leadership and Next Generation led a search committee through a completely online process to develop a diverse candidate pool, select and interview semi-finalists and structure a transparent and highly participatory vetting of finalists. The university is currently on-boarding their new CIO and Next Generation is advising Fordham on a structure to expand support for online and digital learning. Next Generation has led executive searches for several other Jesuit universities including Fairfield University, Gonzaga University, Santa Clara University, and the University of San Francisco.
